 Nag Panchami is worshipping to the snakes in Hindu culture.

Nag  Panchami is a day of traditional worship of Nag or snakes observed by Hindus throughout India and some other countries where Hindu adherents live.

Why is Nag Panchami celebrated?

The Nag PanchAmi or festival of snakes is celebrated on the fifth day of the moonlit fortnight in the month of Shravan according to the Hindu calendar. ... During the festival, people bathe the snakes with milk ensuring their families freedom from danger of snakes.

 

 

what should we do for nag panchami?

                       nag Panchami Pooja. Snake idols made of clay are prepared and worshipped at home with milk, turmeric, grass, kumkum, and flowers. Flowers and milk are kept near the burrows and holes where snakes live. People also keep a sculpture made of red soil or cow dung of the snake God near the main entrance of the house.

 

Do snakes drink milk?

                   In fact, reptiles can't digest dairy products and even if they could, it's unlikely cows would stand idly by whilst being milked. If dehydrated enough, snakes will drink milk, but if thirsty enough they will drink just about anything.

How to do puja on nag panchami

1.   It is the ancient  Indian festival in honor of the snake god.


2. Many people will keep fast on the day of nag Panchami in order to please the snake god.


3. On that day people wear new traditional clothes.


4. The red hibiscus flowers are used to pray to god.


5. As the traditional look, the milk is offered to the snake god. If any snake during milk then that is very lucky.


6. There are lots of sweets prepared to offer to the snake god and then distributed to everyone there as prasad.

  why we should not eat non neg on this day?

it's because low immunity level during Shravan the immunity power is very low so better to avoid non-veg food is better.

On this day people suffering from Sarpa-Dosha or Kala Sarpa Yoga in their horoscope should donate a pair of silver snakes in a Shiva temple and offer prayers to GOD.

On this holy day , married women and girls perform puja at the snakes home and pray and pray to the snake ( god indian cobra Murgan's incarnation ) at their nest or in a temple for the wellness of their families. A portion of milk used for puja is taken back home and offered everyone as prasad
