RAKSHA BANDHAN

                          Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on full moon day in the month of august.according to Hindus calendar. It shows the bond between brother and sister. 

      Why do we celebrate Raksha Bandhan?

           This festival celebrates the love of his brother for her sister. On this day sister ties rakhi to his brother, to protect her brother from all danger and pray for their long life and happiness in return she gets a gift which is a promise that they will protect her from all the problems.

           What is the history of Raksha Bandhan?

                      The history of Raksha Bandhan dates back to Hindu mythology. As per Hindu, in Mahabharata, the great Indian epic, Draupadi, waif of the Pandavas had torn the corner of her sari to prevent Lord Krishna’s wrist from bleeding ( he had inadvertently hurt himself). Thus, a bond, that brother and sister developed between them, and he promised to protect her.

                      Raksha means protective, and in some places in medieval India, where women felt unsafe, they were brothers.  

Similarly, it does not matter if you are a kid or an adult. Brothers and sisters of all ages celebrate Raksha Bandhan. Furthermore, it strengthens the bond between them as well. ‘Raksha’ translates to the protection and ‘Bandhan’ translates to bond. Thus, this explains the meaning of this festival.
